Love the skin you’re in.
How many times have you heard that phrase? While much of the time it’s associated with being comfortable with who you are as a person, applying it to skin care is no different. I had to be reminded that to have beautiful skin, we have to look deeper than the outer layer. Beauty is skin deep, very deep. If you don’t know what that means, read on.
Can’t rush beauty
With thousands of daily messages related to beauty and skin care, there is reason to be confused on how to achieve healthy skin – all over. While many of us flock to the nearest drug store or to the nearest department store’s beauty counter to find that magic formula that will make us look and feel younger, it’s simply not that easy and there is never a quick fix. Consider that not one size fits all. Healthy skin is not just about the right products, it’s about understanding what type of skin you have and why. Everyone’s skin is different therefore worth considering finding out more before you jump into products you know very little about. Find out what your skin type is. It’s the first step worth taking to starting on your way to healthier skin. A qualified skin care specialist can do this as part of your facial session. But first things first.
Did you know?
Your skin is a living breathing organ. It is in a constant state of growth, with old cells dying and new cells forming. It acts as a barrier against infection. Did you know that it helps regulate body temperature and acts as a filter? What it absorbs is critical to the look and feel of it, but these are not the only factors to understand. The beauty of your skin is not only affected the products you use, it affected also by what we put inside our bodies. Since the skin is made up of both dermis and epidermis. The dermis, the thick layer of living tissue below the epidermis (top layer) that forms the true skin, containing blood capillaries, nerve endings, sweat glands, hair follicles, and other structures. The most critical fact, (that I almost forgot) is that our skin is affected by every aspect of our lives from what we eat to where we live. So, if you’re stressed, you skin will speak volumes! So next time you decide to hold in stress, think of your skin, and count to ten.
Not that simple.
You’re not alone in thinking that skin care is purely about the products we use, that that should do the trick. It’s truly not that simple. Although it is very important to consider what we put on our skin, we also have to remember that it is constantly at work not just to make us look younger, but healthy skin is better able to fight those signs of aging, but it heals better and fights against potential disease than unhealthy skin. When was the last time you thought about that? I admit it’s been a while for me too!
Information is power.
Having your skin assessed is the first step in finding the answers to what you need to get your skin back to being healthy. The summer months and sun can do a number on our skin and before we hibernate for the dry long winter months, fall is a perfect time to do some repair. Do you know what your skin needs? Based on your skin type that will vary. Invest in a facial with a detailed skin analysis to help you find out how to take better of your skin, not just your face but your entire body.
Not all facials are created equal.
The first step is to search out a professional with a specialized skin care experience. Most spas or clinics carry one line of products but as I said earlier not one size fits all. One line may have a great moisturizer while another line is known best for their cleaners. Depending on your skin type and age, problem areas or pigmentation, you may need a custom skin care regime. Let an expert assist you in this task. Careful analysis will help get to the root of the problem, enhance the look of your skin or help you understand better what your skin is lacking and requires as you age. Quality products and a custom quality facial can reveal how best your skin can thrive, look healthy and younger.
